Absolutely concur with your brilliant summation, having been onsite, myself, in all the pre-trial hearings and proceedings to date (9 April, 2025) in Sevilla

Some updates:

Emerita president says his company suffered from extortion. Given spain's strong defamation laws, he seems to have the receipts. There are 2.5 more months of testimony and trial left

https://www.elcorreoweb.es/sucesos/tribunales/2025/04/21/joaquin-merino-presidente-emerita-afirma-116569071.html

Second Emerita employee confirms testimony of president. it’s clear that crimes were committed. Will the Spanish judiciary step up? We will know in the coming months.

According to his statement, he was able to overhear the conversation between the two from his office, where Mario Lopez Magdaleno offered Merino the possibility of Minorbis and Emerita submitting a joint bid, with the alleged warning that he held "the key to the tender." Furthermore, he stated that the president of Magtel allegedly asked his counterpart at Emerita for "15 percent" of the business solely to "secure the tender," that is, its outcome.

According to his account, corroborating aspects of the previous appearance by the president of Magtel, Mario López Magdaleno ended his meeting with the former by announcing that they were "going to call" him regarding their proposals, after which, according to his account, he observed López Magdaleno making phone calls from the office windows outside.

It was later, according to his account, when he realized that after López Magdaleno's phone conversations on the street, the president of Emerita received a phone call from the accused Vicente Cecilio Fernández Guerrero, then secretary general of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Employment, who, according to him, had "invited" Emerita on two occasions to reach an agreement with Minorbis for a joint proposal between both entities.

Final Emerita post probably for a month. For those not invested in this thesis or looking to get into it, there is nothing more substantive to look at than the case files. I’ve attached the final rulings by the previous judges which goes over the evidence and the basis for the case as to why16 defendants face sentences totaling up to 348 years in prison. If you are a legal investor like me, nothing matters as much as primary sources. So for those of who care, here are the source docs translated in English.

PS My next legal situation after PAT will be coming out in 2 or 3 weeks. I’m still in the process of reviewing. PAT has gone up 100% since I wrote it up so if you haven’t subscribed, now would be a good time. It’s free :) The only requirement is at the end of the year is I plan to run a charity drive for anyone that made money for the holidays.

Spain is still fairly corrupt especially with the sort of numbers you are talking about here, so I wouldn't go all in on this one, but still worth a small bet.

Excellent write up!!

Closing statements next two weeks. Judgement in next 90 days. Trial went as well as could be expected. Political situation in spain is anticorruption. So will they win? Like all legal situations, up to a judge but they put their best foot forward and i am very hopeful for a positive outcome.
